Google Confirms Cyber-Espionage Attacks on Chrome Users

In March 2025, Google reported a surge in cyber-espionage attacks targeting Chrome users. The attacks involved sophisticated malware triggered by phishing links in emails, exploiting a zero-day vulnerability (CVE-2025-2783) that allowed attackers to bypass Chrome’s sandbox protections. The campaign, dubbed “Operation ForumTroll,” primarily targeted media professionals, educational institutions, and government agencies. Google announced an upcoming security patch to address this vulnerability and advised users to exercise caution with unknown links and emails.
